The Big Pineapple

This week we had some cool gray rainy weather, so we spent quite a bit of time indoors. However, today was sunny and warm-ish, so we headed to one of the local tourist attractions - The Big Pineapple. It is a large plantation open to the public with train ride tours and a mini-petting zoo. There were pineapple fields and lots of fruit and nut trees. We rode the trains, fed the animals, and picked macadamia nuts off the ground and pounded them with hammers to open them (they are hard nuts to crack).

In the picture above: the girls were fascinated by the tiny joey poking out of it's mother's pouch. They gave most of their food to this hungry kangaroo. :)
